For this week's Family Friday, we will do a fun arts and crafts activity. In Holidays Around the World, children will learn about various holidays, including Cinco de Mayo. Children will then celebrate Cinco de Mayo by creating their own maracas. Read our step-by-step guide on how you can do this fun Cinco de Mayo craft with your child at home!
What you need:
- 4 plastic spoons
- 2 easter egg containers
- Tape
- Decorative paper
- 2 rubber bands
- Uncooked rice and/or beans
- Scissors
Step 1
Click to read Holidays Around the World (A-E). Read the book with your child, especially letter C for Cinco. Be sure to use the spinner on the page to see the pictures come alive! You can also find this book by opening up your Footsteps2Brilliance App and going to Level 2 (Yellow). In Holidays Around the World, you'll see the book Holidays Around the World (A-E).
Step 2
Fill the easter eggs with rice and/or beans. Close the eggs once you are done.
Step 3
Tape 2 plastic spoons to either side of the easter egg.
Step 4
Using the decorative paper, wrap the spoons and egg. Then use the rubber bands to hold the spoons together.
Step 5
Play some music, dance, and shake away!
