This week's Family Friday is a twist on the classic game Pin the Tail on the Donkey. After reading Ilene the Iguana in our Alphabet Animals series, your children will learn fun facts, like the fact that iguanas can regrow their tails! After coloring in their iguana, blindfold your children and see if they can pin the iguana's tail in the right place. Have fun with this interactive animal craft!
What you need:
- Tape
- Scissors
- Blindfold
- Markers or colored pencils
- Pre-made printable Iguana template
- Iguana trivia sheet
Step 1
Open up your Footsteps2Brilliance App, and go to Level 2 (Yellow). In the Alphabet Animals series, find the book Ilene the Iguana. Read the book with your child. Be sure to touch the illustrations to see the pictures come alive!
Step 2
Print out the Iguana template here. You may wish to print several tails or re-use one! Using scissors, cut out the pieces.
Step 3
Have your child color and decorate the iguana any way they'd like.
Step 4
Tape the body of the iguana to a wall at an appropriate height for your child. Place a piece of tape on the back of the tail(s) so your child will be able to "pin" it on the body.
Now you are ready to play the game!
Step 5
Blindfold your child and position them several feet in front of the body.
Ask your child a trivia question from the trivia sheet (here). When they answer correctly they are allowed to attempt to pin the tail on the iguana. When the tail matches up with the body, they win - give them a big high five!
